Somdatta Basu
Kathak and Hindustani Vocals
Somdatta Basu is a highly accomplished artist with a Master’s degree in both Hindustani Classical Music and Kathak. She has received extensive training in Hindustani Classical Music under Smt. Sipra Bose and Sri Sujit Chakraborty, and in Kathak under Sri Santosh Maharaj, Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj, and Smt. Saswati Sen. A Gold Medalist and National Scholar in Kathak, she has demonstrated exceptional dedication and mastery across both disciplines.
With a career spanning more than a decade, Somdatta has earned recognition through prestigious awards and appearances, including Zee SaReGaMaPa 2007 and Voice of Dubai. She has released several widely appreciated music albums and has performed alongside eminent artists such as Pandit Ravi Shankar, Anoushka Shankar, Ghulam Ali, Shaan, and Shreya Ghoshal.
Beyond her performance career, Somdatta is deeply committed to teaching, mentorship, and cultural preservation. She teaches Hindustani Classical Music and Kathak in the UAE and internationally, sharing her knowledge and experience with aspiring artists. Her vision and leadership in founding Symphony Sargam reflect her passion for music, education, and preserving India’s rich artistic traditions.
Kundan Mukherjee
Kathak and Odissi Teacher, Dancer and Choreopgrapher
Shri Kundan Mukherjee is a professionally trained Kathak and Odissi dancer, teacher, and choreographer with extensive experience in performance and arts education. He received rigorous training in Kathak from Padma Vibhushan Pandit Birju Maharaj and Vidhushi Saswati Sen, and in Odissi under Padma Vibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra and Nrutyasri Monalisa Ghosh. He is also a scholarship recipient from Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata, and a former teacher at Our Own English High School, Abu Dhabi.
Kundan has performed at prestigious festivals and cultural events in India and abroad, including the Dover Lane Music Conference, Kalakshetra Dance Festival, and the inauguration of the Indian Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai. He was also invited to perform at the Korzo Dance Festival in the Netherlands in 2013 and 2015. His achievements include the Nrityasaraswati Award from Surnandan Bharati and the Rashratna Samman from the Hindustan Art and Music Society in Dubai.
In addition to his performance career, Kundan has trained numerous students across the UAE and choreographed a wide range of successful productions and cultural presentations. He founded Rasamanjuri FZE in 2006 and established it as a recognized examination centre, enabling students to undertake annual examinations and receive certifications. His work across India, the UAE, and Europe reflects his commitment to arts education, choreography, and the preservation and promotion of Indian classical dance traditions.
Jayaprasad Ganapathy
Ghazal and Light Music
Jayaprasad Ganapathy (JP) is a graded artist from All India Radio and has been trained in Hindustani Classical music by Shri Siddha Ram Swami Korwar ji (Bhopal) and trained in Ghazal and light music by Smt. Kirti Sood ji (Bhopal).
Winner of ZeeTV’s Saregamapa Middle East Challenge 2005 and winner of Voice of Dubai 2007 he is an accomplished singer and has performed with renowned artist like Shankar Mahadevan, K.K, Sunidhi Chauhan & Mahalakshmi Iyer in Dubai.
JP continues to enthrall his audience via shows in United Arab Emirates and also recorded many episodes on Kairali TV. He has also judged various musical competitions in UAE like on Zee TV and GEMS educational institution to name a few.
Sabyasachi Bose
Western Music
He has persued both Graduation and Post Graduation on Music, specialized in Vocals from Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan. He is also an authorized Music Teacher of RSL Awards, London and holds a Level 6 UK Qualification- Teaching Diploma & PGCTL.
He started his career as an Assistant Professor at Asian Academy of Film and Television, Noida, India and other organizations. He is now continuing his teaching career at Symphony Sargam, Dubai. He has successfully mentored and helped his students with Trinity College London, RSL Awards London & ABRSM international music graded examinations to all levels, including Cambridge Assessments and IB Music exams.
He currently is heading the Western Music department and is teaching Western Vocals, Piano, Keyboard, Guitar, Ukulele & Applied Theory of Music at Symphony Sargam, Dubai to students of all ages.
