Symphony Sargam is a Dubai based Institute of Music and Dance, founded by Somdatta Basu in
2010.
“Sargam” in Indian classical music refers to the ascending and descending musical notes of a raga.
And “symphony” in Western Music typically refers to a large-scale orchestral composition, often with multiple movements.
As the name suggests Symphony Sargam aims to provide training in both Indian and Western music styles, offering a diverse curriculum that includes Hindustani vocals, Kathak dance, Western vocals, piano, keyboard, and guitar. This integration allows students to explore and appreciate the nuances of both musical traditions, fostering a well-rounded musical education that transcends cultural boundaries.
The institute is also affiliated with Sarba Bharatiya Sangeet O Sanskriti Parishad, Trinity College London, and Rock School. These affiliations provide validation and recognition for the institute’s curriculum and standards of education in music and dance.
